Explore the role, process, and expectations before applying.
The qualities we value most are passion, adaptability, and a dedication to learning. Experience can be helpful, but we would rather welcome inexperienced applicants who are driven to make the team successful and can learn on the go than applicants who are not excited by the work.
If you are interested in a fast-paced environment, leading large parts of a project, learning new engineering and business practices every day, and creating a sensor that can impact daily lives, we want to see your application.
We are a new project team, similar to a startup, working from the ground up to form a unique minimum viable product that could reach the general public through further development. Each year brings a new cycle of product development, business modeling, and fundraising from companies.
We continuously improve and restructure our organizational practices to meet members' needs and expectations.
Round 1: Application questions.
Round 2: Behavioral + technical interview (invite only).
Information sessions are a chance to learn more about the team, the project, and what life in SensTech looks like. These are especially useful for students who want to hear directly about subteam responsibilities, project goals, and what the recruiting process involves.
Session details will be shared soon, and all interested students are encouraged to attend.
Coffee chats are a casual way to meet current members, learn more about the team, and ask questions before applying. They are a great option if you want a lower-pressure way to understand what SensTech is about.
Do I need prior experience? Not necessarily. We value passion, adaptability, and a willingness to learn.
Can I apply if I am a freshman or transfer student? Yes. We welcome freshmen, transfer students, and graduate students to apply.
Is this a commitment-heavy team? Yes, but the work is rewarding and the time commitment is balanced across technical and business work.
Are there interview rounds? Yes. After the first round of application review, shortlisted applicants are invited to a second round of interviews.
How do I get more information before applying? Attend an information session or coffee chat, and review the application process and team overview on this page.
SensTech is a small, fast-paced project team. Every member has an opportunity to influence our direction as we develop a biosensor and business model from ideation to prototype. Both R&D and Business members are essential: the competition culminates in pitch decks, proposals, and networking events in the Netherlands, where the translation potential of our device and the science behind it are equally important.
Because we are in the early stages of development, incoming members can gain extensive leadership experience in technical and business areas while helping build the presence of a new Cornell project team.
